HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Meet Max! He has been chosen as Hillsborough Patch's Pet Of The Week.

"This is Max. He is a Djungarian hamster, which is a dwarf hamster that only grows to be about three to four inches long.

Max belongs to Heidi, a 5th grader in town. Heidi is a huge animal lover! She got Max in May 2018 and he is possibly the nicest hamster ever. He loves to be carried around and gives tiny kisses if you put your nose to him. He never bites which is rare for a hamster.

All hamsters are nocturnal, which means they are awake all night- his tiny legs run super fast on his wheel. During the day, he is usually snuggled deep in the bedding of his cage and if you call his name, he pokes his tiny nose out.

Heidi cleans Max's cage every week and keeps his food filled and his water fresh. He is a great pet for a young girl and our family loves having him!"
