Millstone River Floods In Montgomery

A flood warning remains in effect Tuesday for Somerset County, issued by the National Weather Service.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A flood warning remains in effect for Somerset County following rain this past Memorial Day weekend.

The warning issued by the Nation Weather Service will remain through 1 p.m. due to flooding in the Millstone River.

The Millstone River at Griggstown remains at a moderate flood stage with a height measuring 12 feet as of 8 a.m. Tuesday. The flood stage is at 9 feet for the river, according to the NWS.

Flooding is also being reported on the river at Blackwells Mills where it is measuring at 9.6 feet and the flood stage is 9 feet.

The river began flooding on Sunday and hit it's highest level on Monday morning at 16.29 feet.

The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by tonight.

As a result of the flooding Griggstown Causeway and Blackwells Mills Causeway both remain closed. However, county routes 533 and 605 in Montgomery have reopened as of 7 a.m. Tuesday.
