Montgomery Elementary School Teacher Named Hillsborough VFW Teacher Of The Year
The award was given by Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post # 8371 and VFW District 15 of Somerset County.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Theresa A. Foltiny, a teacher at Orchard Hill Elementary School in Montgomery, has been chosen as the recipient of the VFW Teacher of the Year award for Elementary schools by the Hillsborough Memorial VFW Post # 8371 and VFW District 15 of Somerset County.
This distinguished recognition celebrates outstanding educators who display a strong dedication to teaching and fostering American History, Americanism, civic responsibility, flag etiquette, and patriotism within their students.
The National VFW Teacher of the Year program allows nominations of teachers from three disciplines K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 ensuring that teachers from diverse backgrounds and teaching practices are considered. The selection process involves a rigorous screening of nominations at the VFW Post, District, State, and National levels with acknowledgments and awards at each step.

Foltiny has taught at Orchard Hill Elementary School in Montgomery Township for 20 years. She has an extensive record of military service in her family. Her grandfather was a WWI Navy Vet, her father was a Korean War Navy Vet, and she is the niece of several military Vets and the mother-in-law of an Air Force Vet. That tradition continues with family members currently serving in the military.
"My pride in the USA runs deep. It has been instilled in me during my entire life by the brave and selfless veterans I have been lucky to call my own family," said Foltiny.
