Montgomery Eye Care Celebrates 25 Years

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Montgomery Eye Care, the private optometric practice and full-service ophthalmic dispensary, recently celebrated its 25-year anniversary.

Dr. Mary E. Boname, an optometric physician, and Benedict A. Fazio, a licensed dispensing optician, opened Montgomery Eye Care on Dec. 26, 1997.

Boname was influenced to open the practice after watching her paternal grandfather’s general medicine practice in upstate New York. Fazio was inspired to provide complimentary service and adjustments while accompanying his young twin brothers (2-years-old at the time) for frequent eyeglass repairs.

When the two found that they were like-minded, they moved forward on their shared dream to create a destination practice.

"I identified with and emulated my grandfather," Boname said. "It runs through everything at this practice, down to the copies of family photos that I used as postcards to notify patients that it was time for their annual exam, to thank them for referring a new patient or to thank them for filling their spectacle prescription at my office."

The goal was not only to provide exceptional eye care, the latest optometric and optical technology and fashion, but also to provide "truly caring service" where everyone is treated warmly and respectfully, according to Montgomery Eye Care.

"Patients say it’s like coming to the bar in 'Cheers' but without the alcohol, or like being a guest in our home," Boname said. "Patients have told me that I’m the doctor they look forward to seeing, and I feel the same about them."
