Montgomery Named Best Town In NJ For Families: Report

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Montgomery Township was named the best town for families in New Jersey, according to a new ranking published by New Jersey Family magazine.

Montgomery Township also earned the distinction of being the top Somerset County town for families, the magazine said. They described it as "a bucolic Somerset County township that offers a little bit of everything in its 32 square miles."

The magazine went on to boast about the township's "stellar schools."

"The proverbial trophy case for the district includes past designations as a National Blue Ribbon School for both the high school and one of the town’s two middle schools. And there’s nary a list of top schools statewide that doesn’t include the township," the magazine stated.

It also noted the township's growing business community which includes a proposed development featuring shopping, dining and entertainment at the intersection of Routes 206 and 518.

The magazine looked at towns with more than 1,500 residents, and took into account several key factors, including average home sale price, crime rates, school performance, commute time, and diversity. They then took that data to find the different rankings, including the best overall, best for commuters, and best large, mid-sized, and small towns.
