Montgomery Police Officer Hospitalized Following Crash

A Flemington mom is in critical condition after her daughter collided with a Montgomery Police car responding to an emergency: Authorities

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A Montgomery Police Officer, who was responding to an emergency call, was hospitalized along with three others following a crash in the township. Somerset County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the crash.

Christina Lenzo, 18, of Flemington was driving a 2016 Mazda CX while on Orchard Road on Nov. 9 at 5:31 p.m. when she approached a stop intersection at Burnt Hill Road. There were two other people in the vehicle, Morgan Jones, 17, of Flemington and Janine Sante, 44, also of Flemington, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson

As Lenzo tried to make a left turn onto Burnt Hill she pulled out into the path of an approaching Montgomery Township Police Ford Explorer SUV that was responding to an emergency call with the emergency lights and siren activated, according to Robertson.

Lenzo, Jones and the Montgomery officer were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – New Brunswick where they were treated for their injuries.

Lenzo’s mother, Janine Sante, who was sitting in the back of the vehicle, sustained serious injuries and is listed in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – New Brunswick, Robertson said.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Analysis Response Team is assisting in the investigation.
