Belle Mead native Wade Baldwin was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies as the 17th pick in Thursday night's NBA draft.

The Belle Mead local was the selected by the Memphis Grizzlies as the 17th pick in Thursday night's NBA draft.
The 20-year-old player was Point Guard at Vanderbilt before getting drafted on June 23.

"After taking over as the full-time starting point guard as a sophomore, Baldwin elevated his game to the point where NBA scouts had to take notice and he had to consider leaving school early to take a chance in the draft," according to the NBA. "Baldwin led the Commodores in scoring, assists and steals and was voted second-team All-Southeastern Conference by the league’s coaches. He wound up third in the league in assists, second in SEC games only."
Standing at 6'3" with a wing span of 6'10", was one of the many reasons he was drafted.

- Can make free throws consistently
- Solid rebounder for his size
