North Plainfield Democrats To speak At Jan. 7 Hillsborough Democratic Alliance Meeting

The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance delivered several bags/cartons of food to the Hillsborough Food Pantry in December, and also donated more than 30 new items from the Holiday Adopt-A-Family wish list for multiple Hillsborough families who needed assistance for gifts to put under the tree this Christmas.

“We were happy to be part of this effort”, said Anne Iannone, President of the Alliance, “and to be able to help people in need right here in our own community”.

The Alliance strives for government transparency and accountability, responsible fiscal and social policies, community involvement and voter participation. Meetings are held once each month at Avalon Assisted Living, 393 Amwell Road, Hillsborough, and often include speakers and topics of interest to the Democratic/progressive community.

The Alliance will have its 2015 kickoff meeting on Wednesday, January 7th, at 7:00 PM sharp, at Avalon Assisted Living, with refreshments starting at 6:45. Our guest speaker will be Doug Singleterry, North Plainfield Councilman (D), along with other North Plainfield Democratic officials. Mr. Singleterry, who was just re-elected to City Council, is a lawyer by profession, and has been a Councilman since 2005.

He most recently served as Council President. His focus has been on sustainability, affordability, energy aggregation, and business development.

His focus on Wednesday will be on issues facing all municipalities in 2015, neighborhood organizing, and developing and maintaining a strong Democratic Club in town.

The meeting is open to members, prospective members, and others who simply want to meet like-minded people in Hillsborough and get more involved in the community.
