Outdoor Cafeteria Seating Proposed For Hillsborough High School

A design for a proposed three-season outdoor canopy seating area is being sought by the Hillsborough School District.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — With a little extra change in its pocket, the Hillsborough Township School District is looking to finally build a long-sought-after outdoor seating area.

Board member Gregory Gillette reported that the district had a surplus or "bubble" of several hundred thousand dollars in its food services budget during the Monday night Board of Education meeting.

The surplus has been built up for a number of years, said Gillette.

"One of the proposals that have been made for many years is to try to provide some outdoor seating for the cafeteria," said Gillette.

Using that surplus funding, Gillette said the district has reached out to its architect to request a proposal for a design for a three-season outdoor canopy seating to be built in the area near the high school.
