Pay Rate Increased For School Substitutes In Hillsborough
The Hillsborough Board of Education increased the pay to its substitutes to "be competitive with the surrounding districts."
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Township School District is increasing pay rates for its substitute teachers and staff for 2024.
"The [Human Resources] committee decided it would be in the best interest of the district to increase substitute teacher pay, instructional aide substitute pay and substitute nurse pay so that we can be competitive with the surrounding districts," said Board of Education member Cynthia Nurse at the Oct. 28 meeting.
The increased substitute rate went into effect on Nov. 1 with the following adjustments:

- Substitute Teacher - From $125/day to $155/day
- Substitute Instructional Assistant - From $105/day to $140/day
- Substitute Nurse - From $255/day to $275/day
