Police Investigate Christmas Day Shooting In Somerset

A 25-year-old North Brunswick man was hospitalized, underwent emergency surgery and is expected to survive after the shooting.

FRANKLIN, NJ — Authorities are investigating a shooting in Christmas Day that hospitalized one man in Franklin Township.

An area hospital reported to police on Dec. 25 at around 12:17 a.m. that they were treating a gunshot victim, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

The victim is only being identified as a 25-year-old North Brunswick man. He underwent emergency surgery and is expected to survive, Robertson said.

A preliminary investigation shows the shooting may have occurred on Stothoff Street in the Somerset section of Franklin Township. Investigators are trying to figure out the exact location of the shooting, if it was an isolated incident, and if the victim was the intended target, but have received limited cooperation, Robertson said.
