HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — After more than a year of delays, Proven Poké Co. will no longer be opening their Hillsborough location.

"Unfortunately, due to a few unforeseen circumstances, we will not be moving forward with opening in Hillsborough. And we're super bummed about it. We wish the residents of Hillsborough good vibes," a spokeswoman with Proven Poké.

The eatery, which offers their customizable poke bowls and burritos, had initially planned on opening at 649 Route 206 in Hillsborough in November or December of 2018.

In December 2019 the eatery said delays had remained until the most recent announcement in February where the opening was cancelled.

As for plans on opening another location Proven Poké said, "The team is still figuring out next steps. And who knows maybe down the road, it will work out for us!"

The Hillsborough location would have been in the new complex with Starbucks, Chipotle and Sweetberry Bowls. This would have been their first location in Somerset County. Currently they have locations in Asbury Park, Hoboken, and Montclair.
