Raritan Man Arrested For Burglary To Hillsborough Homes, Cars

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A Raritan man was arrested and charged after Hillsborough Police said he tried to burglarize a Hillsborough home

On March 1 at around 10:03 p.m., the Hillsborough Township Police Department reported getting a complaint of an unknown man trying to open the front door of a home on Post Court.

After failing to gain access to the home through the front door, the man walked through the open garage doors and began pulling on the locked interior garage door, said Hillsborough Police Lt. Thomas McLain.

"After pulling on the interior garage door several times he left the area," said McLain.

The man then went to a second home on Post Court and tried to enter a locked vehicle parked in the driveway. He was unsuccessful and left the area, said McLain.

A short time later patrol officers found him hiding in a fenced-in area on a Ditmars Circle property.

The man identified as 35-year-old Richard Linker of Raritan damaged a portion of fencing on the property before officers placed him under arrest, said McLain.

Linker was charged with numerous offenses including third-degree burglary, third-degree attempted burglary, third-degree terroristic threats, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct (disorderly persons offense).

He was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing in this matter.
