Raritan Valley College Offers Limited Number Of In-Person Classes

BRANCHBURG, NJ — This fall, Raritan Valley Community College is offering three different education options for students: online anytime learning, remote classroom instruction, and a limited number of hands-on campus classes due to the coronavirus.

The three learning options will be available for the Fall semester starting on Sept. 2. Registration is now open for recent high school graduates, adult students, and visiting college students looking to spend the Fall semester close to home.

"Although the Fall Semester may look different from past semesters, RVCC is committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for students," said RVCC President Michael J. McDonough. "Our plan is designed to help all students move forward, plan for the future, and keep their educational goals on track."

• Online anytime learning features online classes where students study from home according to their own schedules. All interaction with faculty and classmates is online, and students never have to come to RVCC's Branchburg campus.
• Remote classroom learning is similar to being in a traditional classroom, but students can take classes from home. Each class is held at a scheduled time, and students log in from their computer and interact with their professor and classmates in real time.
• Hands-on campus classes will be offered in some areas that don't function as well online and need hands-on classroom learning. These include lab sciences, healthcare, arts classes, and some career training programs in such areas as HVAC, auto tech, and cosmetology. Other types of classes that work better in person, such as speech and ESL, also will be offered on campus. The number of students in all these classes will be reduced, so students and instructors can safely practice social distancing.
