Raritan Valley Community College Will Not Yet Require COVID Booster

While some New Jersey colleges are mandating a third shot, Raritan Valley said it will "continue to monitor the emerging situation."

BRANCHBURG, NJ — Two top colleges in New Jersey recently announced they will require all students and staff get a booster shot for coronavirus but so far, Raritan Valley Community College will not implement such a mandate — yet.

Princeton University and Stevens Institute of Technology announced on Dec. 17 the booster shot mandate. At Princeton, students must receive booster shots by Jan. 31, while Stevens Institute of Technology requires students and staff get booster shots no later than March 31.

But Raritan Valley so far has no plans to require booster shots.

"We are currently not planning to mandate a booster. However, we continue to monitor the emerging situation with expert opinion and guidance from the CDC and the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education," said Donna Stolzer, director of media relations at RVCC.

While boosters aren't mandated yet, RVCC does require all RVCC students, faculty, and staff to show documentation of being vaccinated against COVID-19. Additionally, face masks are also required in all RVCC buildings.

"Raritan Valley Community College is working together as a community to keep our campus safe. The health and safety of our students and the entire College community is always our top priority," according to RVCC's website.

On Monday, Somerset County reported 274 cases and a total of 2,925 cases since Dec. 21.
