MONTGOMERY, NJ — A rash of car burglaries occurred in a span of about four hours early Monday morning in Montgomery, police say.

The thefts were reported Monday on Brandywine Road, Kildee Road, Sunset Road, Titus Road, Coddington Court, and Fisher Farm Road, Montgomery Police Lt. Jim Gill said.

It is believed the thefts happened between midnight and 4 a.m. with the alleged thieves walking up to vehicles parked outside and checking if they were unlocked, Gill said.

Items stolen from the unlocked cars included wallets, cash, or other items of value which were left in the vehicles overnight, Gill said.

"These thefts are preventable, residents should take basic crime prevention measures including locking parked cars, removing valuables, and reporting suspicious persons or vehicles at the time they occur," Gill said.
