Residents Tickled Pink About Breast Cancer Awareness

Several residents are sporting pink hair extensions in support of local cancer-oriented charities.

Lynn Killian and Heather Trinka, from Faces Salon in Warren, teamed up last Sunday with Hillsborough residents to “pink things up a bit!”

To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Killian, herself a Hillsborough resident, and Trinka, her assistant, met at a township home and set up shop. Their goal? Apply pink hair extensions to anyone who arrived at the home.

Between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m, over eighty women, girls, and boys showed up to get their pink hair extension. After paying their $15 and getting pinked, the “customers” were treated to pink ribbon chocolates and lollipops, and pink lemonade.

Fifty percent of the proceeds were donated to Dance for the Cure and Chain of Hope, two local charities geared toward helping local families in need due to a life threatening illness.

Killian and Trinka were thrilled to be a part of this fundraiser, and even donated any tips they received back to the cause. Killian stated that any pink extensions they do during the month of October will also be donated to the charities.

Many of the girls that showed up on Sunday stayed to chat and play with their friends.

One girl stated, “It’s great getting together with friends to help others in need! I love the pink hair and will keep getting it to show my support until a cure for cancer is found.”
