HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Drivers on Route 206 North can expect a change to a ramp through late fall as work continues on the major highway project in Somerset County.

On Monday, the Route 206 North ramp to Falcon Road and Triangle Road was closed to allow roadway construction to complete the new northbound lane and to regrade the area near the ramp, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation(NJDOT).

The closure is part of the federally funded Route 206, Doctors Way to Valley Road project.

According to the NJDOT, the work will create two travel lanes in each direction of Route 206 between Doctors Way and Valley Road.

The project is also intended to enhance safety and ease traffic congestion.

Project plans also call for the construction of a new median barrier.

According to the NJDOT, that barrier will eliminate left turns to and from properties located along the highway and direct turns to newly signalized intersections and jughandles.

The project description states that those changes are intended to reduce turn-related crashes and optimize traffic flow.
