MONTGOMERY, NJ — Hear music playing while out shopping and want to give the performers a tip? Think twice, say police.
Police are warning locals of an unusual scam involving violinists performing at a shopping center parking lot.
Recently, Montgomery Township Police said they have responded to several reports of people playing a violin in the parking lot of Montgomery Shopping Center.

"In these instances, the person would solicit money while playing, however, the violin music is actually played through a Bluetooth speaker from a cell phone nearby," said police.
The people conducting this scam have also been found to be from out of state, said police.
