Social Media Threat Prompts Police To Sweep Manville Schools

While the threat was not credible, there will be an increase in police presence at all Manville Schools on Friday.

MANVILLE, NJ — A social media threat was made against a Manville school on Thursday night prompting police to sweep the building, said Superintendent Jamil Maroun in a letter.

"Following a thorough investigation conducted by the Manville Police Department, it was determined that the threats were not credible. At no time were students or staff in any danger," said Maroun.

As a result, there will be an increased police presence at all of the Manville schools on Friday.

Maroun thanked the Manville Police Department and other local authorities for their help securing the schools.

"We are grateful for their service to our community and support regarding the safety of our students and staff," said Maroun.

Manville has a total of four schools in its district.
