Somerset County's First Distillery To Host Opening Week

Bellemara Distillery in Hillsborough will celebrate its opening week beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 22.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Somerset County's first distillery, Bellemara, will be hosting their opening week beginning on Wednesday.

The full-time opening of the distillery at Carriage Farm, at 2 Clerico Lane in Hillsborough, just off Route 206, will be held on:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 22 and Thursday, Dec. 23: 4 to 9 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25: closed
  • Sunday, Dec 26: Noon to 6 p.m.

Former Naval Officer turned distiller Camden Winkelstein and his wife Christina Lee of Plainsboro have been working since 2017 to get their dream off the ground and now the day has finally come.

"It's great to see the whole building come alive and turn on the system," said Winkelstein previously. "The whole thing is fired up without any major issues. It's kind of a nice feeling."

Winkelstein began distilling his single-malt clear spirit, which is like vodka. Then he will start distilling gin.
