Somerset Woman Dies From Gunshot Injury, $5,000 Reward Offered

SOMERSET, NJ — The Somerset woman who was shot last week in Franklin Township has died from her injuries, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson announced Tuesday.

Monserrat Noyola-Narvaez, 20, of the Somerset section of Franklin Township died following the shooting on Oct. 22 in the area of Phillips Road and Matilda Avenue.

A 911 call reported shots fired around 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the area of Phillips Road and Matilda Avenue in the Somerset section of Franklin Township, Robertson said.

Franklin Police found a driver, later identified as Noyola-Narvaez, who was unconscious and had been shot behind the wheel of a vehicle, Robertson said.

Noyola-Narvaez was then taken to an area trauma center and is currently in critical condition, Robertson said.

On Thursday, Oct. 24 at about 5 p.m., Noyola-Narvaez succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead, Robertson said.

Her organs were donated to the NJ Sharing Network by her family following her death. On Monday, an autopsy was conducted by the New Jersey Regional Medical Examiner’s Office and the cause of death was determined to be gunshot wound and deemed a homicide, according to the report.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Investigations and Forensics Unit, and the Franklin Township Police Department are investigating the shooting.

Somerset County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 in reward money for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this shooting.
