Students Collect 2,155 Soup Cans for Hillsborough Food Pantry

Fifth graders at Auten Road Intermediate School competed in the Second Annual Soup-er Bowl Collection to collect the most cans

Hillsborough, NJ -- It was the battle of the “Soup-er Bowl” between fifth graders at Auten Road Intermediate School.

Fifth grade teams 5J (Mrs. Diane Lyons’s and Mrs. Carrie Sanchez’s homerooms) and 5K (Mrs. Beth Raff’s and Mrs. Mindi Andreski’s homerooms) went head to head to collect the most cans of soup to donate to the Hillsborough Township Food Pantry.

This was part of the school’s Second Annual Soup-er Bowl Collection.

A 5K Broncos family chose to contribute more than 100 cans.

A boy from the Team 5J Panthers shoveled snow in his neighborhood to raise enough money to purchase 40 cans of soup for the food bank.

Another Panther family was so moved that their son spent all his saved money on the soup drive, that they helped him contribute 200 cans to the team.

Altogether both teams collected 2,155 cans of soup for charity, with Team 5J Panthers being named “Soup-er Bowl” Champs.
