Students Design Winning CD Artwork

Designs incorporating drug-free messages for Red Ribbon Week on display at municipal building.

CD cover designs that conveyed a positive drug-free message by Kelly Boccippio, Julie Parikh and Klaudine Bessasparis were picked as grand prize winners in a contest sponsored by Hillsborough Township Life Skills Committee and the Hillsborough/Millstone Municipal Alliance as part of this year’s celebration of Red Ribbon Week.

Recently, an awards ceremony was held to honor the contest winners, including 15 runners up, and Kelly, a student at Hillsbroough Middle School, Julie Parikh, from ARIS, and Hillsborough Elementary School student Klaudine.

During October’s Red Ribbon Week, all Hillsborough Township Public Schools students were invited to create an anti-drug message and incorporate their message into a CD cover complete with artwork and song titles. Understanding that parents are an important part of keeping children drug-free, students were encouraged to talk to their families about their ideas for their CD cover.

The winning CD covers, currently on display in the township municipal building, were chosen based on their anti-drug message and how it was conveyed on the CD cover. All winners were awarded a gift certificate for a local book store.
