Sunnyside Gifts Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary By Giving Back
Hillsborough locals and owners of Sunnyside, Shannon and David Winters, are donating 50% of proceeds from this weekend to Steps Together.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Sunnyside Gifts is celebrating its one year anniversary this weekend by donating 50 percent of its proceeds to Hillsborough-based Steps Together.
The family-friendly celebration will be held on Saturday, Sept, 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a prize wheel, free sweet treats, and more.
Hillsborough natives and wife and husband team Shannon and David Winters had launched Sunnyside Gifts as an online shop in 2015 and had several pop-ups before opening their first brick and mortar location at 381 Triangle Road in the township last September.

"We could have just stayed with the online business and pop-ups, but we wanted to create a space filled with positivity and good vibes and offer our community in Hillsborough and the larger Somerset County a place to go for unique and thoughtful gifts that they won’t necessarily find in chain stores or from Amazon or other online stores," said Winters.
The shop offers pop culture collectibles, metaphysical gifts, bath and body care, home décor, global fair trade handcrafted gifts, and more.

The idea to donate 50 percent of proceeds to Steps Together, whose mission is to support families facing a medical crisis, was a no brainer for the Winters.
"We believe in giving back, and that’s why we have our ;Gifts That Give Back' fundraisers," Winters said.
During the last year, Sunnyside has supported more than 30 organizations in the local community, including the Hillsborough Music Festival (co-sponsored by the Allegra School of Music and Arts), the Hillsborough School District HSAs, and other local schools, animal rescue, and sports/dance groups.
"It has been such a joy since opening our doors for the first time last September. We’re all about spreading good vibes and positivity, especially when we hear so much each day about what’s wrong in the world," Winters said. "We love it when someone who walks in to the shop for the first time mentions the good energy and positivity that they feel in the shop. It is such a blessing to have cultivated that for our community — more than just a retail shop, but a place to go to feel good."
