SUV Crashes Into Post Office In Montgomery Township

The 79-year-old driver from Skillman told police she was backing out of a parking spot when the crash happened.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A driver backing out of a parking spot reportedly crashed into a post office in Montgomery Township on Monday.

On Dec. 16 at 12:10 p.m., Montgomery Police went to the Blawenburg Post Office after a vehicle hit the building.

Officers determined Beth Watson, age 79 of Skillman, was backing out of parking spot.

Watson told officers that after backing out of the spot, she thought she had put the vehicle in drive, said police.

After Watson stepped on the accelerator, the vehicle, which was still in reverse, backed into the front of the post office, said police.

The post office sustained structural damage to the front of the building, and was inspected by Montgomery Township Code Enforcement.

Watson was uninjured. Two people inside the post office were uninjured.

Watson was issued a summons for careless driving and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.
