Driver Runs Red Light, Crashes Into School Bus With Kids On Board: Montgomery PD

Montgomery EMS evaluated and treated the six students on the school bus as well as both drivers on Friday.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A teen driver who ran a red light and crashed into a school bus with six students on board in Montgomery was issued summonses on Friday, said police.

On April 19 at around 3 p.m., Montgomery Police and Montgomery EMS went to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of County Route 601 and Skillman Road.

Police determined Luke Forma, 19, of Skillman, was driving a white Acura west on Skillman Road and failed to stop for the red traffic signal at the intersection of Route 601.

The Acura went into the intersection and was hit by a small school bus traveling south on Route 601, said Montgomery Police Lt. Jason Larsen.

As a result of the crash, the Acura sustained passenger-side damage and airbag deployment. The school bus sustained front-end damage and airbag deployment.

After hitting the Acura, the school bus hit the traffic signal on the southwest corner of the intersection, said police.

Montgomery EMS evaluated the six students on the school bus as well as both drivers. Everyone involved in the crash were treated at the scene and refused further medical treatment.

Forma was issued motor vehicle summonses for disregard of a traffic control device and careless driving, and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery Municipal Court.

Somerset County Department of Transportation made repairs to the damaged traffic signal.
