Teen Took 'Imitation Gun' To School In Somerset County
The Franklin High School teacher reported seeing a 14-year-old male student put what she believed was a handgun into his backpack: Police.

FRANKLIN, NJ — A Franklin Township High School student was taken into police custody after a teacher spotted a gun in his possession, police report.
A teacher at the high school reported on Thursday around 1:30 p.m. a 14-year-old male student put what she believed was a handgun into his backpack, Franklin Police reported.
The teacher contacted security and the school resource officer who immediately responded and removed the student from the classroom.

"Upon inspection, it was obvious that the handgun was an imitation," police said.
The juvenile was taken into custody and was ultimately released to his parent.

"At no time was there any threat or danger to the students," police said.
There is an ongoing investigation into this incident.
