Test Well Water For Contaminants At Upcoming Event In Somerset Co.

Local residents can test their well water for lead, arsenic, E. coli, and other contaminants for a discounted rate at an upcoming event.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough residents who get their drinking water from a private well can get their water tested for lead, bacteria, arsenic, and other contaminants at an upcoming event.

Raritan Headwaters and the township are partnering to offer local residents well water testing at a discounted rate for residents, officials said. All testing is done by a state-certified laboratory, and the event is also open to people living outside of Hillsborough.

Residents may purchase a well test kit on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hillsborough Municipal Complex (379 S. Branch Rd.) and collect samples. Then, return well samples on Monday, Oct. 23 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., again at the complex.

Raritan Headwaters is a nonprofit watershed conservation organization that also has well test kits available at its Bedminster and Flemington offices.
