The cleanup generated 15 bags of garbage, 4 chairs, a cooler, 4 plastic buckets, 2 planters, a metal box spring, and 2 rusty paint cans.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Despite the windy, cold, and sometimes wet weather, Hillsborough residents came together to clean up the wetland area bounded by Eger, VanDeripe, Polhemus, Pierson, and Oxford roads on April 13.

The cleanup generated 15 bags of garbage, four chairs, a cooler, four plastic buckets, two planters, a metal box spring, two very rusty paint cans, 100 feet of green plastic silt fencing, and the cap from a truck bed.

Residents who participated included Anu Kuruvatti, Andrew and Sue Burton, Al and Mason Schaub, Nadun Dasanayake, the O’Donnell-Sudah Family, Ken Kutch, the Franco Family, Michael Steiner and the cleanup organizer, Maureen Merrill.

They also had some unexpected help from Oxford resident Anthony who used his quad to haul the trash bags to the street.

This cleanup was a follow-up to last year's which was spearheaded by Merrill. Both cleanups were conducted under the auspices of the Hillsborough Department of Public Works Clean Communities project. Read More: Hillsborough Students, Homeowners Team Up To Clean Wetlands
