36 Parked Cars Hit During Hoboken DWI, 2 Riders Injured: Police
Hoboken police arrived on the scene to find a Honda with a smashed windshield and all of its air bags deployed.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Union City man allegedly hit 36 parked vehicles in Hoboken - injuring two of his passengers in the process - during an early morning DWI incident on Wednesday, authorities said.
According to the Hoboken Police Department, officers received several 911 calls that a driver struck several parked cars while traveling north on Bloomfield Street around 1:28 a.m. When a pair of officers responded to the area of 8th and Bloomfield streets, they found a white Honda with a smashed windshield and all of its air bags deployed.
Police also found the driver, Miguel Aleman, 22, of Union City, who “seemed disoriented” and allegedly wasn’t able to balance himself while standing. The officers also detected a “strong odor of alcoholic beverage” coming from Aleman, authorities said.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene because of the heavy damage and possible injuries. They assessed Aleman and treated two other passengers of the Honda, who were also evaluated for injuries related to the crash, authorities said.
Aleman was unable to complete a field sobriety test. Officers arrested Aleman and transported him and his passengers to the Hoboken University Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Hoboken police investigating the scene later found that Aleman traveled north on Bloomfield Street from 1st to 8th streets, striking 36 parked vehicles along the way. The damage totaled “thousands of dollars,” authorities stated.
Hoboken police took blood and urine samples from Aleman at the hospital to determine the alcohol level because he wasn’t able to provide breath samples, authorities said.
Aleman was transported to police headquarters after being treated at the hospital. His passengers remained in the hospital for further evaluation as of Wednesday, police said.
Authorities charged Aleman with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to exhibit documents (insurance), unregistered vehicle and 2 counts of assault by auto (for injuries to the passengers).
