5 New Restaurants To Try That Opened In North Jersey In September 2023
An immigrant's first restaurant and more. Here are 5 new restaurants that opened or announced they'll open soon in North Jersey last month.

NORTH JERSEY, NJ — As you head out to go pumpkin picking or some shopping ahead of the holidays, you may want to try some food tourism in North Jersey. What does the eating landscape look like just outside of Manhattan?
Here are five restaurants that opened in North Jersey in September 2023:
Tinjune Downtown, Newark

The Black-owned, "Asian-Inspired" restaurant opened in Newark on Sept. 13. The unique offerings range from "signature dim sum" to lobster satay to fried cheesecake. The eatery is located at 494 Broad St. Find out more here.

Taps & Bitters, Warren
Located in the Somerset Hills Hotel, the eatery serves cuisine is inspired by New Orleans: cocktails, craft beers, Cajun broiled oysters, and signature gumbo. Owner Rafi Hasid has drawn upon his 20 years in the restaurant industry and 50 trips to New Orleans. Find and more here.
Sandwichitos, North Bergen/Edgewater Border
Near the intriguing strip of parks, residential towers, and shopping centers along the Hudson River waterfront between North Bergen and Edgewater, a new gourmet sandwich shop is on the scene. Markin De La Cruz immigrated decades ago from the Dominican republic and thinks of himself as "a sandwich" due to his various influences. He grew up in Brooklyn, moved to Jersey City, and now lives in Edgewater. Sandwichitos opened at 9025 Old River Road on Sept. 15. Read more and see the full menu here.
Social Hub By Dhaba, Parsippany
A new Indian restaurant has replaced the Houlihan's in Parsippany. After a soft opening in spring, the eatery held its grand opening in September. They're the 10th restaurant from Fine Indian Group, which gave a statement: "Our family-owned restaurants are some of the top Indian dining spots in NYC and NJ, with menus carefully crafted to bring authentic Indian flavors to traditional and fusion dishes." Strickland's Steakhouse, Woodbridge
Does Woodbrige count as North Jersey? Well, if you don't believe Central Jersey exists (the debate is ongoing), it must. Woodbridge restaurant Michael Strickland has opened Strickland's Steak house in the former National Bank Building. The lounge is on the first floor, and there's more formal dining above. The popular Cafe Alyce opened in Jersey City's growing West Side two years ago. Last month, they announced that they'd secured a liquor license, and will start serving up "curated cocktails" and more beginning this month. Read more here.
