HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken's Memorial Day parade this year has been combined with a 250th parade to celebrate America's founding.
The event — which officials say may be the city's largest parade ever — is set for Saturday morning.
The Hoboken Memorial Day and Semiquincentennial Parade will step off at First and Washington streets, downtown near City Hall, Saturday at 11 a.m.
The parade, a partnership between the city, the Hoboken Division of Cultural Affairs, the Hoboken Historical Museum, American Legion Post 107, and the Hoboken Business Alliance, is anticipated to be the largest parade in Hoboken’s history.
American Legion Post 107 member Joe Truglio will lead the parade, which will feature local themed floats carrying veterans and dignitaries.
Bands and other participants will include the 63rd Army Band, the Hawthorne Caballeros, and the Rockin’ Redwings, professional entertainers including Zach Alexander, Charlie Lopez Band, and Fred Lehotay & the Ragtimers, Hoboken public safety divisions, and more.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to line Washington Street from First Street to 11th Street, bring their families, and participate in honoring the nation’s history and those who have served.
The reviewing stand will be located at 11th Street.
NJ Transit buses will operate on an alternate route during the parade using Willow Avenue and Clinton Street. Temporary No Parking Signs will be posted. Please do not park in these areas, the city said.
The parade will require these road closures:
