NORTH JERSEY — Several NJ Transit train routes were suspended, then delayed, on Thursday night after a person was fatally struck by a train in Elizabethy, officials said.
Shortly after 8 p.m., NJ Transit said on social media, "Due to a trespasser fatality near Elizabeth, NJ Transit Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line rail service is subject to up to 60-minute delays into and out of Penn Station New York and is bypassing Elizabeth Station."
Eastbound riders were advised to transfer at Newark Penn Station for westbound train service to Elizabeth.
Rail tickets and passes are being cross honored by NJ Transit and private buses, the agency said. More information can be found at njtransit.com/abc.
