HOBOKEN, NJ — A Union City man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that left a Hoboken man dead last December, prosecutors said.
On Friday, the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested Wilson Sanchez, 36, of Union City, Hudson County prosecutors said Monday.
They charged him with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in death, endangering an injured victim, and obstruction.
Prosecutors said that around 8 p.m. on Dec. 29, Jersey City police headed to Tonnelle Avenue near North Street on a report of a pedestrian struck by a car.
Police found Margarito Avendano-Sanchez, 63, of Hoboken, dead on the northbound side of the road. The driver who struck him had left.
Sanchez was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility to await his first court appearance, prosecutors said.
