HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A Port Authority employee was arrested on a theft charge this week, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
The Prosecutors' Special Investigations Unit arrested Noah Nieves, 53, of Pennsylvania, on Tuesday on charges of theft by deception and tampering with records, prosecutors said.
The investigation, conducted in coordination with the Port Authority Office of the Inspector General, found that Nieves falsified reports of his working hours to receive pay he didn't earn.
Nieves, who is employed as a maintenance supervisor, also provided a financial institution with false information about his employment status for personal benefit, prosecutors said.
He turned himself in to the Prosecutor's Office in Secaucus and was released to await a court date, officials said.
