Child Struck By Ambulance In Hoboken: Police

HOBOKEN, NJ — A child was hit by an ambulance in Hoboken on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

At approximately 3 p.m., Hoboken police headed to the 200 block of Third Street after getting a report of a child struck by a vehicle, said a police spokesperson.

A preliminary investigation by police determined that the child ran into the street in front of the ambulance, which was responding to an unrelated incident.

The child had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, said Public Safety spokeswoman Marci Rubin.

Ambulance personnel involved in the incident are also being evaluated, she said.

Police had briefly asked residents to avoid the area of Third Street between Garden Street and Park Avenue, but roads have reopened, Rubin said just before 5 p.m.

The area is one block south of Church Square Park, near several elementary schools.

No further information is available at this time, Rubin said.
