• 2 struck, killed by NJ Transit trains in separate incidents (nj.com subscription) — Train riders using Hoboken Terminal and the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail faced service changes Friday morning after two people were fatally struck by NJ Transit trains in Plainfield and near Newport Station. Light rail service was suspended at Newport, with limited service still running between Hoboken and Tonnelle Avenue, and NJ Transit tickets cross-honored on PATH at Hoboken and other nearby stations.
   

• Football: Hoboken Knocks off Previously Undefeated Cedar Grove, 28-20 (tapinto.net) — Hoboken's RedWings football team grabbed a big road win by handing previously undefeated Cedar Grove its first loss of the season. Behind several long touchdown passes from Kyle Mercorelli and a strong first half, Hoboken built a 20-point lead and held on late, improving its record to 4–1 and keeping local playoff hopes strong.
