Antisemitic Jersey City Shooting 3 Years Ago To Be Memorialized Thursday
Gov. Phil Murphy and the Anti-Defamation League will hold a Night of Remembrance this Thursday for 4 victims in a 2019 antisemitic attack.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A mom of three, a store worker, a student, and a Jersey City police officer were killed in Jersey City on Dec. 10, 2019 in an antisemitic shooting at a Kosher grocery store.
This Thursday, the Anti-Defamation League of New Jersey will be joined by First Lady Tammy Murphy, local officials, and community members to remember the victims.

The event will take place amid a rise of antisemitic incidents comments across the country, and a month after a warning from the FBI about a "broad threat" to synagogues in New Jersey.

On Dec. 10, 2019, David Anderson and Francine Graham killed Police Officer Joe Seals, who apparently had stumbled onto their U-Haul parked in the city. Later that day, the pair unleashed an attack on a Kosher supermarket, shooting three people to death at random.
An investigation showed that the attack was spurred by the shooters' antisemitic views.

In the wake of the shooting, tensions ran high when a school board member referred to the shooters' "message" and was asked to apologize.
Besides Murphy, the vigil on Thursday will be attended by Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, state Attorney General Matthew Platkin, FBI officials, Council President Joyce Watterman, and more.
