Axe-Wielding Man At Hoboken Terminal Apprehended By Police
NJTA police said officers pepper sprayed the man when he refused to drop the axe after they found him approaching another man with it.

HOBOKEN, NJ — An axe-wielding man was taken into custody at Hoboken Terminal this week after authorities said he "aggressively" used it to approach another man, according to police.

New Jersey Transit Authority police said three officers were patrolling the terminal Wednesday when they heard cries for help coming from a waiting room in the main concourse. The officers went to the waiting room, where they found a man wielding a camping-style axe.

"The suspect had the axe in hand and was aggressively advancing towards a fleeing man," police said.
According to the authorities, the officers positioned themselves between the two men and asked the man to drop the axe. He refused the officers' commands, police said, prompting one to deploy pepper spray.

Police eventually apprehended the man, authorities said. It's unclear if charges were filed.
