Hoboken's school board revised its calendar for next year. See when school starts and snow day information.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken's school board revised its 2026-2027 school calendar on April 27, spelling out when the first day of school is and what might happen if there are snow days.
As with many districts, school will start later in September than usual, because Labor Day weekend is later than usual this year.
Labor Day falls on Sept. 7. The Hoboken public schools will open the next day, on Sept. 8.

During this past year, school closed for a snowstorm in January and two days for a blizzard in February.
Superintendent Christine Johnson told Patch that this year did not, in fact, contain the most inclement weather days since Hurricane Sandy closed schools for a week in October 2012.
Johnson provided this information from the snow day log for the last decade:
- 3 snow days used in 2016-2017
- 4 snow days used in 2017-2018
- 1 snow day used in 2020-2021
- 2 snow days used in 2023-2024
- 3 snow days used in 2025-2026
