Bob Dylan Tribute Canceled In Hoboken; Car Show, Concert Still On

The Bob Dylan Birthday Tribute, postponed once for rain, is canceled again, but a car show and concert are still on for Tuesday.

HOBOKEN, NJ — After rough weather forced the city of Hoboken to push back a planned Bob Dylan Birthday Tribute concert last month, it's now canceled again from its rescheduled date of Wednesday, Sept. 1, due to Tropical Storm Ida. "We will need to cancel the show tomorrow because of the rain prediction," said Cultural Affairs Director Geri Fallo Tuesday morning. "Not sure yet about a new date. So many people involved in the show it will be difficult but we will try to reschedule. To be determined."

The concert was slated to feature performances by Swingadelic's Cheap Guitars, Dave Post, John Bauers, Boo Reiners, Kenny Soule & Ed Fogarty, and many more. Dylan turned 80 in May.

Tuesday night, music fans can enjoy the rescheduled Orquesta La Experiencia show, also at Sinatra Park on the central waterfront at 7 p.m.

Also, a vintage car show is taking place on Sinatra Drive by the soccer field in the same area, Fallo noted. It takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Alternative On Wednesday

Meanwhile, the same night as the Dylan show, at 8 p.m., Thomas Edison Media Arts Consortium–Thomas Edison Film Festival was planning Hudson County premiere of “EMERGE Part 1: An New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Concert Film,” led by internationally renowned Music Director Xian Zhang. It features guest pianist Simone Dinnerstein and is directed by award-winning filmmaker Yuri Alves, an alumnus of New Jersey City University.

The film was set to be screened live for an in-person audience outdoors at Shipyard Park at 13th Street. We will update this report if the concert is postponed. Learn more here.
