Boy, 8, Dies After Falling Into Cruise Ship’s Pool: Report
The same Royal Caribbean ship – Anthem of the Seas – also made headlines this winter after it sailed into a storm with 30-foot waves.
A Maryland boy died from “accidental drowning” two days after falling into a pool aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship departing from Hudson County, New Jersey, a Monday report stated.
Prince Adepoju, 8, passed away on July 2 at Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, a hospital spokeswoman told SILive.com.
The cause of death was “drowning, with contributing condition of seizure disorder,” a spokesperson from the medical examiner’s office stated, adding that the manner of death was an “accident.”

The ship – the Anthem of the Seas - left Bayonne on June 30 and was set to embark on a 9-day cruise to Bermuda and the Caribbean, ABC News stated.
The 8-year-old had been underwater for several minutes before he was found in the pool around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, and a medical professional was able to establish a pulse by performing CPR, the New York Daily News reported.

The child was taken by helicopter from the cruise ship to Staten Island University Hospital, according to ABC.

The Anthem of the Seas is a luxury cruise liner operated by Royal Caribbean that travels between New Jersey and the Caribbean. It made headlines this winter after it sailed into a winter storm with 30-foot waves and cut its passengers’ vacations short.
