BREAKING: Shooting Suspect Arrested After Two N.J. Schools Placed On Lockdown: Cops
Two N.J. schools were on lockdown Tuesday after a fight and a student-involved shooting, police said.

A suspect was taken into custody after two N.J. schools were on lockdown Tuesday, following a fight and a student-involved shooting, police said.
News12 reported that the suspect was in custody around 5:30 p.m.
A police spokesperson said the ordeal started as an argument inside one of the schools; the students involved then left and one student shot another in the leg, according to abc7NY.

Officers are interviewing witnesses and are trying to identify the shooter after the incident happened 2 p.m. on Chestnut, about a block from Dickinson High School, according to abc7NY. Both Dickinson High School and St. Joseph’s, which is located nearby, were in lockdown.
“The fact that a disagreement between two students at a high school can escalate to gun violence speaks to how outrageous our culture is today,” Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop was quoted as saying on nj.com. “Clearly, issues of open access to guns that plague every city in the country need to be addressed in the immediate future by Congress.
