Can You Sing Like Frank Sinatra? NJ Sing-Off Contest To Be Held In Hoboken In June

Hey, Young Blue Eyes! You can watch the Sinatra sing-off contest in Hoboken, which draws contestants from around the continent.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The city of Hoboken has chosen its contestants for the next My Way Sinatra Sing-Off contest, to be held on the waterfront this June 22 at 6:30 p.m. Interested viewers can head to Sinatra Park on the central waterfront to watch the event.

Each year, the contest draws crooners from around North America to compete outdoors in the mile-square city.

The contest was formerly called "Sinatra Idol," but American Idol's chairmen of the board (well, its attorneys) didn't like that too much.

As the city announced in 2018, "Sinatra Idol, meanwhile, is a local tradition that honors Hoboken’s favorite son Frank Sinatra, is not televised, does not offer lucrative recording contracts, and in no way makes a dent in American Idol’s bottom line. Nevertheless, the city of Hoboken has opened a public survey for residents to suggest a potential new name for Sinatra Idol."

The contest floated upon a summer wind and changed its name.

This year, "Contestants will compete for the title of Best Sinatra Style Singer by singing their favorite Frank Sinatra tune before a public audience and panel of judges."

Those interesting in watching, with the Hudson River as a backdrop, can head to Frank Sinatra Park, 525 Sinatra Drive. There is plenty of room to enjoy the festivities.
