Coastal Flood Advisory For Hudson County For Saturday Evening

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service isn't predicting rain for Saturday. But there's a coastal flood advisory for Hudson County from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 3.

A "coastal flood advisory" is normally issued when "minor or nuisance" flooding is expected, often from a nearby body of water rather than a sudden downpour.

The tide in Hudson County is expected to be slightly higher than usual around that time, at 5.5 feet at 8:52 p.m. So if you're strolling along the waterfront, you may notice a difference.

The advisory is for the coastal areas, not inland, and the biggest impact is expected for Long Island.

The message says:

WHAT...One to locally two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.

IMPACTS...Minor to localized moderate flooding is expected in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline.

Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor to localized moderate flooding.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The best chance for localized moderate will be across the south shore back bays of southern Queens and Southern Nassau.
