Cops Charge Hudson County Man With Hot Dog Vendor Hit-And-Run
Authorities arrested a Hudson County man who allegedly struck a hot dog vendor from Bayonne with his BMW in Jersey City.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Authorities have arrested a Hudson County man who allegedly struck a hot dog vendor with his BMW in Jersey City and then fled the scene last month. The victim, a Bayonne resident, was found suffering from serious injuries amidst the wreckage of his vending cart, prosecutors said.
Officers with the Jersey City Police Department arrested David Bowens, 29, of Jersey City, around 8 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Ocean and Van Nostrand avenues, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bowens is accused of fleeing the scene after striking and seriously injuring the food worker with his car as he was driving on East Linden Avenue near Route 185 in Jersey City around 6 p.m. on June 20, prosecutors said.

Officers arriving on the scene of the crash found the 54-year-old hot dog vendor lying near the roadway amid the debris from his smashed cart, suffering from “serious injuries to his lower extremities,” prosecutors stated.
A crashed and abandoned BMW was found a short distance away, prosecutors stated.
