The 13-year-old reportedly told police that he had the loaded, Glock .40 caliber handgun "for protection."

Port Authority police arrested a 13-year-old runaway teen at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City after finding him in possession of a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun on Friday evening.
According to the Port Authority Police Department, officers from its Youth Services unit learned that the teen left Wythe County, Virginia, and was in possession of a handgun and ammunition and headed to New York via Greyhound bus.
“Port Authority Police Sgt. Hector Martinez and Lt. Bailey of the PAPD Youth Services Unit reported with other officers to the security booths inside the terminal for the incoming buses from Virginia,” Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo stated. “The officers spread out throughout the lower level arrivals area of the bus terminal with a description and other information.”
