Woman, 38, Dies In Hudson County Jail; Prosecutors Investigating
The woman who died Tuesday was a Union County inmate being housed at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, officials said.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A 38-year-old woman was found dead in the Hudson County Correctional Facility on Tuesday morning, and the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is investigating, the office said Wednesday.
Prosecutors said that approximately 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, a corrections officer found the woman lifeless inside her cell.
Officers and onsite medical personnel responded, but the woman was pronounced dead at approximately 7:34 a.m., prosecutors said.

The woman was a Union County inmate being housed at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, they said.
In 2018, after six people died in the jail in a year, the facility was investigated and blasted as "inhumane."

There were also at least two deaths in the prison last year.
As per state guidelines, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General was notified and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Shooting Response Team is investigating "as it is an in custody death."
Prosecutors said that no visible signs of trauma were seen, and the manner of death is being investigated by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
