Fiery Crash Fells Power Lines, Causes Blackout In Kearny (VIDEO)

The driver reportedly wasn't seriously hurt in the jaw-dropping crash, which caused a power outage for thousands of PSE&G customers.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A car crashed into a set of utility poles in Hudson County early Wednesday morning and burst into flames, causing a power outage that affected thousands of people, reports say.

Nobody was seriously injured in the crash, which took place around 12:15 a.m. on Belleville Turnpike in Kearny. However, more than 2,000 PSE&G customers lost power for hours in the aftermath, NBC New York reported.

The driver of the car was rescued after it burst into flames. She was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, NBC New York reported.

Those left without electricity included North Arlington Middle School and residents of nearby apartments. The crash also damaged a water main, New Jersey News 12 reported.
